TETPThailand

The Thai Elephant-Assisted Therapy Project (TETP).

The TETP is an attempt to alleviate two pressing issues, both requiring the awareness,  respect and care of people: one, an urgent animal welfare and conservation problem, and the other, a significant human health-care problem. It brings together the expertise of  researchers and practitioners in Occupational Therapy, specialized in dealing with autistic children, and conservationists, who have both scientific and ‘local’ knowledge concerning elephants. As the first project of its kind, it is necessarily experimental in nature. TETP was begun in 2007, and is already showing stunning results. We are convinced that it will be a non-harmful contribution to the sustainable conservation and welfare of  elephants.
